Castelion
A defence manufacturer building low-cost, mass-producible hypersonic strike systems.
The Company
Castelion is building Blackbeard, a low-cost hypersonic strike system designed to be manufactured at scale. The company positions its approach around speed of production as well as speed in flight, a relevant distinction as the Pentagon prioritises industrial capacity alongside advanced capability.
In August 2026, Castelion announced a $1 billion financing package: $800 million of Series C equity and a $250 million committed revolving credit facility, at a $13 billion valuation. It also said it had secured more than $500 million in U.S. military contracts during the preceding 18 months.
Why It Matters
Castelion illustrates the new defence-tech model: venture-backed companies competing for programs traditionally supplied by major primes. The profile should be monitored for production milestones, additional contract detail and the conversion of development work into recurring program revenue.
