VAST Data
VAST Data sells a unified data platform for AI and analytics workloads. Its bet is that enterprises need a new data architecture as models, agents, and high-performance compute make older storage silos less useful.
The Company
VAST Data was founded in 2016 to rethink distributed data systems for modern compute. It markets a platform that unifies storage, databases, and data-management services for high-performance AI and enterprise workloads.
The company said its April 2026 Series F reflected a combination of growth and profitability. The funding, led by Drive Capital with Access Industries as co-lead, more than tripled the valuation assigned to its 2023 Series E.
Why It Matters
AI systems depend on accessible, governed, high-throughput data. VAST is a private-market signal for whether the infrastructure layer beneath models can capture a large share of the economics, rather than becoming a commodity owned by hyperscalers.
